General Purpose:
Regional Nurses are primarily responsible for providing leadership, support, and direction to multiple healthcare facility locations throughout a specific region of the company. Regional Nurses oversee all clinical operations of the facilities in their region, ensures company policies and procedures are carried out and regulatory compliance standards are being met. The position of Regional Nurse is as much a support role, as it is a leadership role. Regional Nurses work alongside the management teams at each building to develop and implement processes, identify and resolve issues, while educating staff on best practices for success.


  • Must have and maintain throughout employment an unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Must have valid CPR certification and maintain active CPR certification throughout employment.
  • Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations specific to nursing home operation and licensure.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with residents, families, vendors, visitors, government agencies, facility staff, hospital personnel, hospice representatives, and the general public.
  • Must have excellent follow-through.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality individualized care.
  • Ability to prepare and present educational material and/or reports to various audiences.
  • Ability to formulate reports, disseminate information, interpret data, and coordinate with multiple departments.
  • Must be able to lift 60-70lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk throughout the scheduled shift.
  • Must comply with attendance policy and established schedules, be flexible, and make necessary accommodations for the needs of residents and families.
  • Must have knowledge of computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
  • Must have excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to meet all local health regulations, and pass pre/post-employment physical exam(s) if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
  • Must have the ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships through the use of tactful, direct and sensitive interaction. Must be able to communicate verbally in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, co-workers, and to work cooperatively with others.
  • Must attend in-service/education programs as required to learn new procedures and develop skills to meet regulatory compliance.
  • Must agree not to disclose resident protected health information and report suspected or known violations of such to the facility Administrator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operates and supervises within the prescribed scope of practice for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state.
  2. Monitors the facilities CASPER reports monthly. Provide detailed analysis of the facility Quality Indicators and Quality Measures for implementation of interventions to support improvement.
  3. Participates in Director of Nursing applicant screenings and interviews as requested.
  4. Provides Director of Nursing new-hire orientation utilizing the processes and materials specified by the company.
  5. Coordinates work efforts, facility visits, etc. with other regional nurses and/or other regional team members.
  6. Conducts facility onsite visits with focus on the following, but not limited to:
    • Risk Management
    • Admissions/Discharges/Transfers/Return to Hospital
    • Wounds
    • Catheters
    • IV Therapy
    • Dialysis Residents and Services
    • Ostomies
    • Trach Care and Services
    • Infection Control Prevention and Practices
    • ADL/Peri-Care
    • Employee Education/Licensure Renewals/Background Screening
    • Documentation-Clinical Record/PCC/POC/EMAR
    • Quality Measures/Star Rating/Casper Reports
    • Survey Follow-Up-POC creation and review
    • Mandatory Reporting Documentation
    • Restorative Nursing Programs
    • Budget Management
    • Staffing-Retention/Recruiting/Schedules
  7. Coordinates and participates in annual Mock Survey visits to each facility as scheduled.
  8. Provides clinical expertise for clinically complex residents.
  9. Completes facility visit reports as instructed and submit as scheduled.
  10. Evaluates the nursing services provided in each facility, provide instruction, guidance, direction, training, etc. as needed to the Director of Nursing, Administrative Nurse Team, frontline staff, other departments, etc. as warranted.
  11. Prepares reports analyzing each facility’s key performance areas as assigned.
  12. Assists facilities either onsite or remotely with any survey activity.
  13. Assists facilities in identifying risk areas, implementing interventions, reviewing clinical records, conducting investigations, completing mandatory reporting, and documentation requirements.
  14. Reviews and suggests modifications to policies and/or assists in creating new policies.
  15. Ensures facility teams are collaborating as needed to ensure resident care is delivered per the individualized plan of care.
  16. Practices standard precautions with all resident care.
  17. Ensures facility teams are verifying the use of resident positioning devices, restraints, splints, braces, immobilizers, cushions, etc. per the individualized plan of care.
  18. Understands and adheres to established facility policies. Interpret the department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
  19. Prepares and presents educational materials/training as required.
  20. Attends meetings as assigned.
  21. Travels to and from each facility, the corporate office, training, in and out of state, and any other travel as requested.
  22. Uses proper body mechanics when lifting.
  23. Adheres to safety policies pertaining to infection control and isolation, personal protective equipment (PPE), gait belts, mechanical lifts, and fire/emergency procedures.
  24. Customer Service-Promotes and maintains positive relationships with co-workers, residents, visitors, volunteers, vendors, and regulatory representatives.
  25. Resident Rights-Understands and promotes resident rights. Have positive interactions with residents, families and caregivers. Maintain a professional appearance. Ensure confidentiality of all resident information, compliance with HIPAA regulations and policies, Encourage resident autonomy in decision-making.
  26. DocumentationCompletes documentation in the individual clinical record per policy. Completes any other documentation as assigned.
  27. Other-Completes all other duties as assigned.

Physical and Sensory Requirements: Walking, sitting, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine-hand coordination. Ability to hear and respond to overhead pages. Ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors, and consultants. Ability to apply training and in-service education provided. Must present a neat, clean, professional appearance and demonstrate a positive approach with employees and residents.

Salary/Hourly Rate: Based on Years of Experience


Wage scale determined by years of experience. Benefits available for employees working over 30 hours per week.
